FlightFactor has shared new previews of its upcoming Boeing 787 for X-Plane 12, showcasing an advanced FMS with RNAV and RNP capabilities, realistic hydraulic and electrical systems, and a detailed EFIS. The aircraft is expected to enter beta testing soon.

FlightFactor has released new preview images of its highly anticipated Boeing 787 for X-Plane 12, revealing significant progress on the aircraft's systems. The 787 will feature an advanced flight management system (FMS) with RNAV and RNP capabilities, including precise VNAV and LNAV modes. The hydraulic and electrical systems are being simulated in detail, with realistic responses to failures and abnormal operations. The EFIS displays have been recreated with high accuracy, including the synthetic vision system (SVS) and vertical situation display (VSD).

The previews also show the aircraft's exterior model, which includes detailed engine nacelles, wing flex, and landing gear. The cockpit is fully modeled with interactive controls and a comprehensive overhead panel. FlightFactor has stated that the 787 will include a custom failure system and state-saving, similar to their A320 Ultimate. The aircraft is expected to enter beta testing in the coming weeks, with a release targeted for late 2026 or early 2027.

For X-Plane 12 users, the 787 represents a major addition to the long-haul fleet, which currently lacks a high-fidelity Dreamliner. FlightFactor's reputation for study-level simulations suggests that this will be a worthy competitor to PMDG's 737 and iniBuilds' A350. The 787's advanced systems, particularly its electric architecture and composite structure, will offer a unique challenge for simmers. Pricing and release date have not been announced, but more details are expected at FSExpo 2027.
