Fenix Simulations has rolled out the highly anticipated Block 2 update for its A320ceo series, introducing a redesigned VNAV path construction and improved FMS performance. The update also brings refined engine model and autopilot logic.
Fenix Simulations has released the Block 2 update for its Airbus A320ceo family, marking a significant step forward in system fidelity for the popular MSFS add-on. The update, version 2.0.1.100, introduces a completely reworked VNAV path construction algorithm that more accurately mimics the real aircraft's descent planning, including improved geometric path handling and more realistic speed constraints. Testers report that the FMS now handles complex RNAV approaches and STARs with greater predictability, especially during idle descent segments.
The engine model has also seen refinement, with the CFM56-5B now exhibiting more accurate spool-up times and fuel flow characteristics. Autopilot logic has been tuned to reduce oscillation during turbulence and to better handle configuration changes. Additionally, the flight model has been adjusted to improve pitch authority during flare and to more closely match the real A320's ground effect behavior.
Fenix has also updated the EFIS symbology and added new failure scenarios, including hydraulic system degradation and electrical bus faults. The Block 2 update is available now via the Fenix installer and is free for existing customers. The developer continues to work on the A319 and A321 variants, with a release expected in the coming months.
