Fenix Simulations has outlined its Block 2 update for the A320neo, adding a revised LEAP-1A engine model, RNP AR approach capability, and improved FADEC logic. The update is free for existing owners.

Fenix Simulations has published a detailed development update for its A320neo, confirming that the Block 2 update will introduce a significantly revised CFM LEAP-1A engine model. The new model accounts for bleed-air demand, thermal efficiency, and fuel flow across the flight envelope, with particular attention to climb thrust degradation at high OAT. Fenix says the goal is to match real-world performance data within 1.5% on typical sectors.

RNP AR approach capability is also coming, with full authorization-required (AR) lateral and vertical guidance modeled in the FMS. This includes radius-to-fix legs, RF leg sequencing, and the associated alerting logic on the PFD. The update will allow simmers to fly complex approaches like Innsbruck's RNAV (RNP) Y RWY 26 or Kathmandu's RNP AR procedures with proper guidance.

Additional improvements include refined FADEC behavior during engine start and shutdown, updated ADIRS alignment timing, and a reworked hydraulic system that better simulates the PTU's barking behavior on the ground. Fenix has also addressed several VNAV path issues reported after the Block 1 release, including premature descent path capture.

Block 2 is expected to enter beta in October, with a public release targeted for late Q4 2026. As with previous updates, it will be free to existing customers and delivered via the Fenix Installer.
