Fenix Simulations has released its long-awaited A320ceo Expansion, adding sharklet-equipped variants to its highly regarded Airbus A320 for Microsoft Flight Simulator. The expansion includes the A320-214 with sharklets, featuring updated aerodynamic modeling that reflects the reduced induced drag and improved fuel efficiency of the wingtip devices. The package also introduces a new CFM56-5B sound pack, recorded from a real A320 at Dublin Airport, with authentic spool-up, fan buzz, and reverse thrust audio.
The engine model has been refined to simulate the CFM56's FADEC logic more accurately, including idle and takeoff power settings, and the bleed air system now has a more realistic impact on performance. The update also addresses several VNAV path issues reported by the community, particularly on complex RNAV (RNP) approaches where the aircraft would sometimes fail to meet altitude constraints. Fenix has worked closely with real-world Airbus pilots to tune the flight control laws and autopilot behavior.
Performance optimizations include reduced VRAM usage and improved frame rates in the virtual cockpit, especially on lower-end systems. The expansion is available now for existing owners of the Fenix A320 for a fee, and new customers can purchase the base package with the expansion included. Fenix has also confirmed that work continues on the A321 and A319 variants, with the A321 expected to enter beta later this year. The team remains committed to supporting MSFS 2024, though a native version is still in development.
