Fenix Simulations is set to release an expansion pack for its A320 add-on, introducing IAE V2500 engines and sharklet-equipped variants. The pack also includes new cockpit options and improved fly-by-wire logic.

Fenix Simulations has announced that its long-awaited A320 expansion pack will be released next week, bringing the IAE V2500 engine option and sharklet-equipped airframes to the popular Airbus narrowbody. The expansion, which has been in development for over a year, includes a completely new engine model with accurate FADEC logic, performance data, and sound set. The IAE-powered A320 is particularly sought after by European operators, and Fenix has worked closely with real-world pilots to ensure the simulation matches the real aircraft's characteristics.

The sharklet variant introduces new aerodynamic modeling, including the reduced fuel burn and improved climb performance associated with the wingtip devices. Fenix has also updated the fly-by-wire system to account for the different handling qualities of the sharklet-equipped aircraft, particularly in the landing flare and during single-engine operations. The expansion also includes new cockpit options, such as the older-style standby instruments and the improved avionics suite found on later-build aircraft.

In addition to the new hardware, Fenix has taken the opportunity to refine the base aircraft's systems. The FMS now includes improved VNAV pathing, better support for RNP approaches, and a more accurate fuel prediction model. The company has also addressed several bugs reported by the community, including issues with the autopilot during go-arounds and the weather radar display.

The expansion pack will be available for $49.99 and will require the base A320 product. Existing owners will receive a discount. Fenix has confirmed that the expansion will be compatible with both MSFS 2020 and MSFS 2024, with a native MSFS 2024 version to follow shortly after release.
