Fenix Simulations has released the Block 2 update for its A320, introducing the IAE V2500 engine option, improved FADEC logic, and full ACARS integration with Hoppie's network. The update also includes a new MCDU interface and refined flight model.
Fenix Simulations has rolled out its highly anticipated Block 2 update for the A320, bringing a host of new features and improvements. The headline addition is the IAE V2500 engine variant, complete with accurate performance tables, distinct sound pack, and FADEC behavior. This gives simmers the option to fly the A320 with either CFM56 or IAE powerplants, matching real-world fleet configurations.
Another major feature is full ACARS integration with Hoppie's network, allowing pilots to request and receive clearances, weather, and PIREPs directly through the MCDU. This is a game-changer for online flying on VATSIM and IVAO, as it streamlines communication and adds a layer of realism. The MCDU itself has received a visual overhaul, with new fonts and improved page layouts that better match the real aircraft.
The flight model has also been refined, with adjustments to ground effect, crosswind handling, and pitch trim response. Testers report that the aircraft now feels more stable during approach and flare, particularly in gusty conditions. Additionally, the update addresses several bugs, including an issue with the autothrottle disconnecting during turbulence and a glitch in the fuel prediction logic.
The Block 2 update is available now for existing customers at no extra cost. Fenix continues to set the standard for study-level Airbus simulations, and this update solidifies its position as the top choice for A320 enthusiasts.
