Fenix Simulations has released the Block 2 upgrade for its A320 CEO for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024, featuring an enhanced CFM56 engine model, improved EFB integration with Navigraph, and updated flight dynamics. The update is free for existing customers and aims to set a new standard for Airbus simulation.

Fenix Simulations has rolled out the highly anticipated Block 2 upgrade for its A320 CEO (ceo) add-on for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024. This comprehensive update introduces a reworked CFM56-5B engine model that more accurately simulates thrust response, fuel flow, and EGT margins, particularly during start-up and high-altitude cruise. The flight dynamics have also been refined, with adjustments to the fly-by-wire system to better replicate the A320's handling characteristics in normal law, alternate law, and direct law. These improvements are based on extensive feedback from real-world Airbus pilots andbeta testers.

A key highlight of Block 2 is the seamless integration with Navigraph charts and SimBrief within the Electronic Flight Bag (EFB). Pilots can now access terminal charts, performance data, and flight plan uplinks directly from the EFB, reducing the need for external applications. The EFB also supports performance calculations for takeoff and landing, including assumed temperature and derate selections, with real-time weather data. Furthermore, the update includes a new MCDU (Multipurpose Control and Display Unit) interface with improved font rendering and faster response times.

The Block 2 upgrade is available now for all existing customers at no additional cost, and new purchases will automatically include it. Fenix has also announced that a Block 3 update is in the works, focusing on the A321 variant and enhanced failure simulation. With this release, Fenix Simulations continues to push the boundaries of what's possible in a consumer flight simulator, offering an experience that rivals Level-D simulators. For those flying on VATSIM, the improved systems fidelity and EFB integration make the Fenix A320 an even more compelling choice for online flying.
