Fenix Simulations has released Block 2 of its A320 for MSFS 2024, featuring ProSim-derived systems, independent CFM56 and IAE V2500 engine models, and a reworked FMGC. The update also brings improved RNP AR capability and refined fly-by-wire laws.

Fenix Simulations has pushed Block 2 of its A320 for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 to all customers, marking the most substantial systems update since the add-on's initial release. Built on a heavily customized ProSim training core, Block 2 introduces independent engine models for the CFM56-5B and IAE V2500-A5, each with distinct spool-up times, fuel flow curves, and EGT characteristics. Pilots will notice the difference immediately on takeoff roll, where the IAE's slower acceleration and higher idle thrust require more deliberate derate planning.

The Flight Management and Guidance Computer (FMGC) has been overhauled with improved RNP AR (Required Navigation Performance Authorization Required) support, including radius-to-fix legs and RF leg sequencing that now match real-world Airbus behavior. VNAV path tracking is smoother, and the autothrottle's response to speed target changes is more realistic, particularly in turbulence. The fly-by-wire system now models normal law, alternate law, and direct law with greater fidelity, including the subtle pitch trim behavior during configuration changes.

Visually, Block 2 adds a revised cockpit with updated PBR textures and a more accurate FCU panel with improved backlighting. The external model benefits from refined wing flex and flap/slat animation. Fenix has also addressed performance, with a noted reduction in CPU frame-time impact, especially in dense scenery environments like iniBuilds' EGLL or FlyTampa's EHAM.

The update is free for existing owners and available via the Fenix installer. For those flying on VATSIM, the improved FMGC and RNP capabilities make this A320 a compelling choice for complex European airspace. Fenix continues to set the benchmark for study-level Airbus simulation in MSFS.
