The Polish scenery developer has rebuilt KORD from the ground up, featuring custom ground polygons, terminal interiors, and accurate runway configurations for MSFS 2024. The package includes the new eastern terminal extension and updated taxiway layouts.

Drzewiecki Design has released version 2 of Chicago O'Hare International (KORD) for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024, a complete rebuild of its previous MSFS 2020 rendition. The new version takes advantage of MSFS 2024's improved rendering engine, with higher-resolution ground textures, more detailed terminal buildings, and animated jetways. The developer has also incorporated the latest airport changes, including the completed eastern terminal extension and the revised taxiway system that now accompanies Runway 9C/27C.

One of the standout features is the custom ground polygon work, which accurately represents the concrete and asphalt surfaces, including tire marks and subtle weathering. The runway textures include realistic rubber deposits at the touchdown zones, and the approach lighting systems are modeled with correct spacing and intensity. For serious simmers flying online on VATSIM, the airport's taxiway signage and hold-short positions are faithfully recreated, reducing the risk of ground navigation errors during busy events.

The terminal interiors are also modeled, with visible gate areas, seating, and retail spaces, which adds a welcome sense of scale when taxiing past the terminals. Performance is surprisingly good for such a large airport; Drzewiecki has optimized LODs and texture usage, and we saw frame rates in the high 30s on a mid-range system with AI traffic enabled. However, those with older GPUs may need to reduce ground clutter settings. KORD v2 is available now from the Drzewiecki Design store andOrbx, priced at $29.99, with a discounted upgrade path for existing owners.
